Ok, now that the year is almost finished, I'm looking back at our accomplishments this year. I'm not too happy about my performance, I must say.
Almost no science, but then my son inhales it, and my daughter doesn't care.
Not enough English to my taste, I'm unsure as to what I should be teaching them anyway. My son has a very strong French pronunciation, so we're working on that. But he reads a few levels ahead of kids whose main language is English. So I don't worry about that part! DD is picking it up via immersion, and we read a few books, not enough to satisfy me though.
My son's interest in Greek (Koine Greek) is quite strong. He started in January, and he's almost done with Elementary Greek Year 1. He's got 6 lessons left to do, I just placed an order for year 2. His interest in Latin is higher now that I set Latina Christiana 1 aside, and moved him up to Latina Christiana 2. He likes to translate from Latin to Greek and vice versa. Oh boy.
My daughter's interest in math is getting better. We spent most of the year dealing with tears and total frustration with Singapore Math and Défi-Math. She's so lacking in logic, that one. Ok, she's still young, but I'm at a loss since her brother picked up math like it was nothing, and then she comes along. Anyway, since we switched to Math-U-See, it's better. She's still struggling a bit with logic, but at least she's learning her math facts. Of course, that goes against *my* philosophy of math teaching. But I'll take what I can.
